Husband having coughing spells and will pass out or have seizure type episodes

My husband has a pacemaker/ defibilator and is having sever coughing spells that makes him feel faint and sometimes he will become very hot and sweat heavy and pass out but i seem to catch it when its about to happen and i can wet his face and sort of bring him back around before EMS gets here........he is a peritonel dialysis patient too,,they cannot find out why he is having these episodes,,,,,,,his 3 month read out of his heart  never shows anything to them when we sent his transmission to his doctors office,,,,a doctor today said it has to be his implant of the pacemaker,,,,,does that make sense to you..........We need answers

Not sure if I'm telling you something you already know, but prolonged coughing simulates something called the Valsalva maneuver which can bring on exactly the symptoms you're describing (collectively known as pre-syncope) and sometimes even syncope (fainting) due to a change in pressure in the chest cavity.  Have they investigated what could be causing the coughing, such as doing a chest x-ray or other respiratory tests?

Encephalomalcia is right. I would take your husband in to see the doctor soon. That just doesn't sound right. How long has he had his ICD for?

Has he had a chest x-ray to rule out fluid in the lungs?  Coughing most of the time is associated with fluid in the lungs due to heart failure.  It can also be associated with ace inhibitors.
