IRREGULAR HEART BEAT

Any theories on how exercise causes irregular heartbeats. I've been an athlete for most of my life.Well, now it seems that several hours after I exercise I get benign PAC's. What causes this? Is it lactic acid build-up or a PH imbalance? There has to be some reason for this? I want to keep exercising but these constant PAC's after I workout really suck. The weird thing is the PAC's don't usually start until a few hours after I work out. please help.

There are many possible reasons.  research "ectopic heartbeat".

Ive spoke to my doctor about this problem and made me do blood work and also a dopler. everything can back normal. I dont take energy drinks I dont smoke or drink. I try to stay hydrated. I am a medic so when I have this feeling a couple hours after working out I put myself on the ecg monitor at work and I do get PAC'S. I know these things happen for dif. kinds of reasons but it is very unconfortable to have. MERILEEGAL made a good point that if she goes long without eating she gets them. Ive noticed that when i go long without eating they get worse. and also after I eat and im very full I get them but not as bad. This PAC things is a pain and also scary. MZAC that can also make sense about having my body still reacting to adreniline afterwards. Thanks guys for the insight. it made me feel better to im not alone in this..

I don't think anyone in here can say what causes the PACs. Everyone's chemistry is so different.Something triggers them and that's what you have to find out by documenting your activities, what you eat or drink, supplements your taking, etc... I found out that krill fish oil was one of the worst offenders for me where in other people it really helps them. If I go too long without eating I get them or if I don't get enough sleep. Often times, I get them at the end of the day when I crawl into bed. Thes PACs are very puzzling but can be diminished by figuring out your personal triggers. Good luck.

I have posted a topic on here, PVCs=Electrolytes or adrenaline? The answer to your question is probably one of those two. Either your electrolytes (potassium, magnesium, sodium, etc) are depleted, or your heart is still responding to the increase of adrenaline from the exercise. BY the way, I am going through basically the same thing.

Whenever I get excited from certain activity such as exercise, sex, etc I have been seeing an increase in PVCs. I have tried all types of supplements for the electrolytes and been having mixed results. Sometimes they seem to help, other times they don't.

I've been to the cardiologists and they determined I have benign PVCs/PACs. They put me on a beta-blocker (metoprolol tartrate) and I tried it for a while but stopped it because I didn't like how it made me feel.

Did you have bloodwork done to see if your electrolytes are ok? Did you get checked out by a cardiologist? There are alot of good posts on here relating to your situation, and you may be able to find some answers. Good luck.

do you think you could get dehydrated? try to pay attention to how much water you're drinking during and after

I know Cindy707 said something about sports drinks and arrhythmia's but I can't remember what it was - I think in some it can cause problems, I'll try and find her post, or you can leave her a note and ask and look at her previous posts.

have you talked to your dr about this? I would keep a log of dates symptoms etc to see if you can find a pattern
