My beta blocker update (Metopropol 25mg)

I have now been on Metopropol almost a month. I do get depressed (I probably shouldn't have read up on the possible side effects) and get tired very early in the evening. By 8 p.m. I'm ready to hit the sack.  Very annoying--

The running hasn't been affected too much; I'm slower, but not by much.

However, I'm constantly hungry. Munching all day long so have gained about 5 lbs (even though I'm exercising as much as ever)

Is anyone else really hungry on beta blockers?

Also, I still have Afibs about once a week and am now getting some weird PVC-types ( I think) Usually my PVCs consist of a pause between some of my beats (about 2 seconds maybe) and that's it.

Now however, I feel some normal beats and then a tiny, almost un-noticable beat kind of piggy-backing on the next beat.

I have never had those before I started the betablocker.

I know beta blockers don't cause irregular heart beats so maybe I've had these little mini PVC's all along. (if that's what they are)

Sorry for the long post!

I need to get off the computer, I can't type correctly it seems. I meant I take Diovan for HIGH BP, not low.

Sorry!

Yes, I meant Metoprolol.

I also have off and on dizziness with it, but that may be due to low blood pressure.

I take Diovan for low blood pressure and asked the doc if I could do without it now that I'm taking Metoprolol. But he said no.

My BP is kind of low after a hard run sometimes, but not lower than 95 over 65. I was just told to drink plenty of liquids

Do you mean Metoprolol?  This is the generic Toprol medication all are slow release, SL as far as I know. But, you may be talking about something else.

I respond because I have been on both Toprol and Metoprolol for periods of time, the latest has been about a year now.  My dose has been much higher, as high as 200 mg a day (2x100mg).  While this has given me undesirable side effects I am not aware of one being depression.  I've read the warnings, maybe I've overlooked.

Metoprolol does make me tired and at high dose make me short of breath, which doesn't seem to be your reaction as you are able to run.
