NSVT

I called today and asked for an update of my 30 day Holter monitor. They saw one PVC, one ventricular couplet, and five PVCs in a row lasting less than two seconds.   I am an absolute sobbing hysterics right now.  I have already been through two oblations and I know that NSVT usually isn't fixable.  I am completely scared out of my mind right now.  Could anyone please offer some advice?  Thank you

So far this doesn't sound serious.  I would consider any opportunities you have to reduce the annoyance level these things cause,  such as reduction of caffeine, nicotine,  alcohol.  I also find that heart tonality improves things,  especially if I don't overdo on my cardio workouts.

If your ablations were recent,  you could also consider how your heart will eventually work once it is all heeled and has remodeled itself around its new operating situation.

There are also some drugs, which may have been an alternate you may have been offered before your procedures.

Also,  I am not a doctor, but I dont know about this definition of nsvt and how it differs from simple pvcs.  Do you know if there are any statistics behind this, and are they significant, or even measured with respect to expected outcome. Full Vt yes maybe some concern,  but I am not sure that there is really any evidence that worry is justified for nsvt.

Definitely feel your pain though, and sorry to hear it. First, I would let heal. Modify habits, and see where you end up. Then consider whether there is anything left after that that a justifiable worry. To keep it in perspective, keep communicating with your doctors...

I have had NSVT caught twice on monitors. A 4 beat and a 5 beat run.  At first dr was a little concerned and sent me to an ep at a university hospital where they did a cardiac MRI. Which turned out totally normal so they said there was nothing I needed to do unless it lasted more then 30 seconds or if I passed out. Yes it scares the crap out of me every time it happens but I am having to learn to live with it.  Thank The Lord the runs do not happen that often although I have tons of episodes of PACs and PVCs. I take Paxil regularly and have Ativan for the bad times.  I have had palpitations for about 20 years.

They did a stress test and a Heart CT for calcium, but not an echo.  I'm hoping the passing results mean I have a healthy heart......

If you haven't already done so, I would recomend searching on this site for others that have had nsvt.  I have read many of them and generally what I read is that a short run of nsvt like you had it nothing to lose sleep over in a healthy heart.

There are many people on this board that post and say they have thousands of pvcs a day and get by just fine.  It would be interesting to know how many of those pvc sufferers have short nsvt runs and just don't ever realize it because they're not captured on a holter device.

Sorry, I should've verified it has been 20 days.  I still have 10 left on the monitor.  I'm sure after last night there's more.  I had my whole family upset, but felt I had no choice but to let them know.  They went through all of this with me 2 times before.  I'm feeling such desolation right now I can't even explain it.  I feel so broken that I have yet another thing wrong with my heart.....

Please try to stay calm.  From what I have read nsvt is not a guarantee that you will ever develop a fatal arrhythmia.  If your heart is otherwise healthy and the runs are that short you very well will be fine.  Obviously there are no guarantees in life but the odds are you may very well die at some point from something other than your heart especially if you do your best to live a heart healthy lifestyle.  Your heart is a very resilient muscle that can handle a lot and still keep going so try to do your best to not stress about this or you will actually make the situation worse.  I highly suggest trying to invest in some sort of stress relief like yoga or meditation to try and get your body to a more relaxed state.  And do your best to keep this in perspective.  Only 1 pvc and one couplet and one run in a whole month's time is extremely low.  I can have hundreds of pvcs a day and I get little runs from time to time.   Just live your life doing your best to be mindful of your heart but not hyper focused on it otherwise you run the risk of letting this ruin your life and chance for happiness and you deserve to be happy.   Take care and stay strong and happy.
