Arrhythmia every day?

Do most people feel their skips every day?  I feel something at least once a day every single day.  I prob had only two skips a day this past weekend, but now today I've felt about 15.  I know that's not alot but I have it EVERY day.  Never a 24 hour period of NSR.

Just wanted to add - anxiety/stress is acknowledged as a possible cause of missed beats as far as I can see from all the reading I have done on the matter. Many people on here will also confirm that they are worse when under stress. I would also like to add that as far as I understand it, being symptomatic (ie. feeling them as thumps, flips, etc) does not mean your condition is more serious than if you don't feel them. I think that often treatment (beta-blockers, ablation) is offered as much to alleviate the symptoms and relieve the distress these things cause to patients as to 'correct' the fault. If you have had the relevant tests and have been told your pvc's are benign then there is no higher riisk of cardiac arrest and no higher mortality risk than to those in the general population without pvc's, missed beats etc. Someone provided a link to the research about this a while ago, but I have also read it in a couple of medical books too.

Personally, I have gone from having hundreds, maybe thousands a day, which I did not feel, to having a few which I feel as a big 'flip' in my chest. Both are pretty unpleasant. Mine reduced on their own, I can't put my finger on why they slowed down.

I agree with one of the previous posters that I am done trying to figure out what causes mine.  I've spent too much time trying to figure it out and nothing helps not even at beta blocker.

Mine have gone from bad to worse.  It used to be that a bad day for me would be 50-60 and now I am getting that many per hour.  It is so frustrating.

Sometimes I don't know what I would do without all u guys on this post...I have just recently started with the "fluttering" and "skipped beats"...the hardest thing I deal with is having them one day and then nothing at all...makes me think I am cured...NOT...they come back again and again and again...makes me think they are getting worse and death is soon...Sigh...what a thing we have to learn with...please keep me in your prayers and I will do the same for u all...God Bless u...My Fellow Skippers *Smile*

Nope...doesn't make them any less scary.  But that they are scary makes you flood your system with more adrenaline, and that brings more.  So, when you feel them you REALLY have to try to RELAX or else you are putting yourself right on track for a PVC ridden ride.

Yep, that's me too.  I was just on the phone and got all excited about something and guess what.....I got some flutters.  They weren't bad, but I had not had ONE all day long.  I actually had several doctors including my cardio. tell me that anxiety can indeed cause them-so I am in agreement with you barb.  Doesn't make them any less scary though-lol.

I don't think that anxiety/stress can cause abnormal rhythm (and my GP agrees with me).  You do however get Palpitations/fast heart beat from anxiety/stress, but not irregular beats.

Your post doesn't make any sense.  "Palpitations/fast heart beats ARE an abnormal rhythm.  Anything over 100 bpm is called an irregular heart beat.

Your GP needs to go back to school and learn that PVC's indeed can come from stress/anxiety.  She needs to have a talk with the Cardiologist I saw.  I'd NEVER pay attention what a GP would tell me about my heart only what a Specialist in that field as in a Cardiologist tells me about my heart.

PVC's can have many causes or no causes at all, but in some people as it is the case for me PVC's are brought on by stress/anxiety and sometimes lack of sleep.  Release of to much adrenaline can bring on PVC's.  If I am in a severe suspense situation or severe anxiety about something my heart starts to skip.

So far it's been 5 weeks of skipped beats - periodically throughout the day and worse at night. I expect they will settle down at some point for a few weeks and then come back for another visit.  Thank God I no longer have SVT - ablation appears to have been successful in treating that.  I've learned to accept  my wacky heart and don't give them a whole lot of thought.

I used to feel them quite often before I was on my beta blocker, now I get them once or twice a day, but not everyday thank goodness.  HOWEVER, I do get the bad runs every so often and that REALLY gets me going.  I don't agree with Smiley however, I have had too many doctors and folk telling me that anxiety CAN cause the skips, not just the fast heart rates.  It doesn't mean that anxiety IS causing it, but it can definately be the source.  I have really stopped trying to figure out why my PVC's came, what triggers them...it does me no good anymore.  I just know that I have them and I have to try my best to relax, get enough rest, try not to stress about the small things and lean on Jesus....that's what gets me thru.
I hope everyone has a great rest of the week.....with FEW or non PVC's :-)

I started having only a couple a week, now I have PAC's all day long. I wonder why the change, but my doctor is not concerned. I am very symptomatic, these tend to mess with my head and on my bad days I feel just awful. If one is symptomatic to this, are they still "benign"? The symptoms they produce do not feel harmless.

Thanks.

I know exactly what you mean.  I was so used to them (that took a long time) that I really wasn't aware of them most of the time.  During quiet times (watching TV, computer reading), I was probably more aware of them.

Since the ablations, I am much more aware of the PVC's since they aren't happening all the time.  In some ways, that's even weirder.  I think I can understand why a lot of people get freaked when they get them on and off.  They REALLY grab your attention.  But, when you have them all the time, you just get used to them.  A real catch-22!

Take care all!

I just started having PVCs two months ago, after 45 years of strong health.  I feel 15/30 an hour and the adrenaline puts me down quicker than anything.  I live with a ER physician (my husband) and he takes it so lightly that I want to beat him because I am just learning and they scare me.  I would love to only feel a couple.  I want my life back, but they are not going away.

Funny....I do feel them every day.  What makes it funny though is that I've gotten so used to them that I really don't notice them all the time.  Unless it's a particularly bad run or giant THUMP.

To be honest there's a good chance that I don't feel them every day, but if I pay attention I notice them.  In other words...I get them, but I've gotten so used to them that I don't really FEEL them all the time.

I guess that's a step in the right direction.  But let me tell you, when I DO notice them every day....they are so bad that they get the adrenaline cycle started and it's usually a spiral down to a doctor's appointment.

I know that I hate having to weigh my options every time I consider a diet soda or cup of coffee.  I hate wondering if I'm going to feel bad today because I forgot my metoprolol last night.  I hate not being able to stay up late just for the heck of it without knowing that I'll spend at least three days suffering the consequences.  It's those "little" things that irritate and frustrate me the most.

Yip, I get missed beats and extra systoles every day, the whole day long.  Even in my sleep!  I had Ablation done Nov. 2007 to treat PSVT - and that part was successful, but the missed beats/extra systoles is just something that I have to live with.  Had a tilt test yesterday and ECG was abnormal with ventricular dysrythmia.  I was given something to elevate my BP but nothing to fix arrthytmia.  It is just something that I have to live with.  I don't want to drink Beta-blockers, because of weight-gain and it causes BP to fall even more!  so ja, it is something that we have to get used to and learn not to think about it so much and count all the miss beats :)  rather consentrate on positive things and be glad that the darn thing is still beating, even if it misses a few :)

I don't think that anxiety/stress can cause abnormal rhythm (and my GP agrees with me).  You do however get Palpitations/fast heart beat from anxiety/stress, but not irregular beats.

You are not alone :)

I feel mine everyday, most of the time in the evening and at bedtime. I know when they are about to skip because I usually get a funny feeling in my head and then the skipped beats start. I try to ignore them but it can be tough sometimes. And then of course the skipped beats cause me anxiety and me being anxious causes more skipped beats... although I have to admit I am getting better at coping with them.

Keep reading and posting in the forum there are lots of us dealing with the same thing.

Mine started about 6 weeks ago.  I have had it every day since that time.  I *wish* I only had two per day.  I think I'm getting them every 15-30 minutes.  Sometimes more sometimes less.
