Possible Bradycardia in 32 year old Female

Thank you in advance for answering my question....

I am a 32 year old female that has had alot of changes in the last 3 years.  In Jan 2007 I decided that it was time for me to lose weight and get healthier for myself.  I went to my Internal Medicine doctor and she said that my resting heart rate was 120 bpm, my blood pressure was 169/97, my Triglycerides were over 200 and my Cholesterol was off the charts at 365!  So I started Weight Watchers and just celebrated my 3 years of Weight Watchers in 2010 and I have lost just over 165 pounds!  Just recently about 3 months ago ( Jan 2010) I was at the same doctor and my blood pressure is now at 115/62, triglycerides at 115 and Cholesterol at 138 with no med's to have to take and now my resting heart rate is no more than 40 bpm.  I am not sure if this is normal with exercise and weight loss, but I exercise 1-2 hours a day for 5 days a week.  It is mostly 1 hour of cardio (eliptical or treadmill) then 30 - 60 minutes of weight training.  For the last 3 months my resting heart rate in the morning just waking up is around 20-32 bpm.  I am very fatigued, and sometimes light headed.  My grandparents on both mom and dad's side all died of heart disease, my mother had a widowmaker bypass in November 2006.  I had a EKG and blood work done, but am seeing a Cardiologist on the 17th because of past medical history.  I am on Premarin 1.25 mg due to being born with no ovaries, fallopian tubes or uterus.

Thank you for your answer and for reading this posting.

Haven't been back in a couple of months, wanted to give you an update on my heart issues.  I am now also seeing an arithmyia heart specialist, I have had a stress test, tilt table test (ttt), ECHO, blood work (tested first for hypothyroidism, was negative), 24 Hour Holter Monitor and I am now finishing with my 30 day Event Monitor next week.  The cardiologists are scheduling me for an EP Study and depending on the results, possibly placing a pacemaker as well.  I have been passing out frequently and since April 27th I am not able to drive, luckily my spouse and I work for the same company so he is able to drive for me.  My 24 hour monitor gave the doctors stunning results, my resting heart rate while sleeping was between 13-16 bpm!  They ultimately believe that a pacemaker is best at this point but the EP Study will ultimately be the deciding factor and test.  I will keep you up to date as I get more information.

Congrats on taking off the weight and lowering your blood pressure and cholesterol. With your vigorous daily exercise, your resting heart rate of 40 may be too low but then again it is not uncommon for athletes to have low resting HRs.  It is great that you will be seeing your cardiologist next week.  With a waking HR of 20-32, you will  possibly be diagnosed with bradycardia.

I was diagnosed with AFib and after a year of ablations and meds, I developed bradycardia and had a pacer implanted three years ago.  I am grateful that my HR will never go below 60bpm.

Let us know how you are doing.
