Rapid Heart rate on Waking

Very frequently as of late I find myself waking in the morning (out of twilight sleep) and being very relaxed. Within about 15-30 seconds my central abdominal section (feels like small intestine area) begins to tighten. Within the following 30 seconds my heart begins to race and within a few seconds more it is pacing at 135-165 BPM (my norm is 54BPM). Blood Pressure elevates as well to a range of 145/100. (my norm is 120/72). The scenario typically repeats about 3-4 cycles within the term of the "event". Abdomin tightens (sometmes with light nausea), heart rate up for a period of 1-3 minutes (Tingly left arm and leg, sometime light headed), BP up. rinse and repeat

The issues ONLY occur following a wake-up (not during the day once I am awake). As i mentioned earlier, inote myself as feeling "relaxed" initially and then feel the build-up. (I am not being woken with a "Start" from a dream)

As far as digestive issues.. I have eaten alot and gone to bed, eaten nothing and gone to bed, eaten late, early.. Regardless, no pattern is noted with food type, or timing.

Presently I am taking metaproporol for the High BP

Thanks in advance.

yes do ask doctor right away and ask to see a cardio--another possible explanation is it is severe anxiety-- do you get anxiety??

go to your doctor asap and let them know.  Heart attacks occur more frequently in the early morning hours right after waking.  You must let your doctor know what is happening.  They will either do tests and send you to a cardiologist, but do NOT ignore those symptoms!!!
