Switching from metoprolol to atenolo

My doctor said to take atenolol in the morning and metoprolol at night for a week then switch to all atenolol.  This worries me because you shouldn't mix two types of beta blockers.  Since the two are similar why can't I just switch?

I may be completely wrong here and someone please correct me if I am, but isn't it very unideal to take two different beta blockers at the same time?

Sorry for all the typos in my brief reply above, but it seems you read the reference thread, my main purpose for making a reply.

I (we on this community) can not prescribe what is right for you, you have to work that out with your doctor.

Again, on my experience and reading, I believe many may get sufficient medication taking Atenolol once a day, in general this is not the case with Metoprolol Tartrate (normal release).  There is a higher cost slow release version of Metoprolol.  My interest in Atenolol was more than the half-life of the medication.  As you may have read my experience so far confirms the Atenolol is longer lasting in my body... only one sample, others may get different results.

Wow, so I may be fine on 1 25mg of atenolo a day?  That would be great as I hate taking it twice a day.  Would it be safe to try this?  I take it for pvc's and to lower my heart rate.

I have no idea why your doctor wants to the transition, rather than switch.  That is what I did. My may find something interest in:
