Hi Jerry,
So you ended up having to have surgery? I guess it is an open heart surgery yes? You would thing there would be other ways to do this now adays. That must of been scary. I pray I never end up having to do this.
How have you been feeling since??
I always thought the pac's were not dangerous but my doc said having this many can lead to heart failure. Now I just worry what will happen if this med he gave me does not work. I feel this is all I think of lately is my heart.
Do you also?
Remember, an average heart (not running a marathon) beats about 100,000 times a day, so your PACs are about 20%, or 1 in 5 on average. Seems like a lot, but I think the only concern is how do these affect you quality of life. If you can "live with them", I doubt that they are dangerous as you have already noted.
Mild Mitral valve problems are also very common and not usually dangerous, or the cause of PAC, I believe. I had a leaky MV for years and had to undergo surgery at the age of 67 as the leakage had finally enlarged my left atrium to the point that was becoming dangerous. This enlargement may have caused my atrial fibrillation, but I do not suffer from PAC activity - well other than the fibrillation : (
