Weird Sensation In Heart Upon Waking Up...like it's "restarting"

I typically wake up several times a night during my sleep cycle.  For about once a night for the last month now there has been a strange sensation.  I'll wake up (but still be in bed), and when I move from say a fetal position to sleep on my back it's like my heart stops or restarts or does something unusual and for 1 second or 2 it feels like I might have lost my breath.  It also happens if I squeeze my abs and maybe hold my breath for a second.  I'll do It's VERY hard to describe, sorry.  It doesn't "feel" like a typical PVC, which I am very accustomed to and have been living with, on and off for the past 10 years, but I suppose it's possible that it is one.  But this is new.  I have never noticed this ever before and it happens pretty much once a night now.  Does this sound like anything familiar to you? And if so is it a concern?

Thank you,
James

Hard to say what this is (your original post) but it's very easy to find out.

Go to the doctor, ask for an EKG, squeeze your abs or hold your breath when the EKG is registered, and you'll get an answer.

That said, small pauses in the heart rate when holding the breath or change body positions are not uncommon. But why wonder, when the answer is so easy to find? :)

Oh just to add another comment to an already hard to describe sensation, right upon waking up I feel normal.  Then I change positions and I notice this.  It feels almost like I just ran up a mountain, but I quickly feel normal again.  It's like my HR increases sharply (I think???) for a few seconds but then after I check my pulse (by hand) it's beating at a steady 60-65 bpm.  I'm not sure what it is during these "attacks"....may not be fast but it feels "thumpy" and like I'm winded very briefly.  I used to notice this when I'd get up to pee but now it's happening when I just change positions in bed (but not every time...usually just once per night).
