Palpitations

Hi,

Last week I suddenly strted to get palpitations in my chest and they have periodically upset my brething rythm (uncomfortaly rather than seriously) and caused me to feel like I needed to cough as a result.

These palpitations seemingly increase when driving, and at work (computer programmer) but seem to completely vanish when at home for the evening and going to sleep. I'm quite overweight, 220lbs @ 1.7m, aged 39, white, male. I'm "guessing" its work and/or stress related, but the worry of the condition is probably making it worse.

I've also noticed an excess of gas (at both exits of the body!) lately and being totally un-educated medically have no idea what is causing this.

I don't drink coffee and limit my tea intake to 3/4 cups per day. I have been stressed a little but not to the extent of feeling too upset - just financial worries from time to time - the usual.

Any idea what this might be ?

Regards - Paul.

My doctor thinks it could be bile comming back up the gullet and affecting the nerves there in times of stress. Your weight is a factor too. Some after work exercise could help to remove stress and counter the long hours of sitting.       lefty412

Like Barbmag said get it checked out soon. I have had palps for several years, i have had numerous tests. All came back normal. If you have a normally structured heart these things are most likely benign. Only the doctor can determine this. Stress does cause symtoms as does being overweight. Good luck with your findings and try not to worry to much!!! The more I worry the worse they get.

It would be hard for anyone to really know what is going on but if it were me, I would have it ck'ed out by my doctor. One thing that may be affecting your heart is the extra weight which you probably know.
Good luck!!
