I got a pm implanted for bradycardia and wasn't aware you needed to have irratic spells; just a dx of bradycardia.
another avenue to go would be a tilt table test to make sure it's not associated with the autonomic nervous system
SSS is a rare condition and they would be able to tell on the ekg's if memory serves me right, but don't quote me on that =)
She has had a lot of test. I found something called sick sinus syndrome that explains somewhat her irratic "spells." Having a Holton monitor hooked up to see if that shows anything. Asked about a pacemaker and this cardiologist say her heartrate is not irratic enough in all the test to get one. When her heartrate goes down to 39, it is back to normal by next day. If sick sinus syndrome is to be considered then this alone would justify a pacemaker. Thanks for the responses. Will get the 2nd opinion as soon as this last moniter thing is done (getting it today).
I'm pretty sure there are pacemakers that can deal with it. They do something called ventricular pacing.
You don't mention what type of block or the severity so I really can't say for sure.
I would think she's a candidate for the pacemaker because she's symptomatic.
if it were me, I would get a full cardio workup if she hasn't had one - BBB; bradycardia, almost passing out (pre-syncope) and fatigue should be assessed and a cause found - could be something simple or something else - if she's had one and been seen by a cardiologist; another opinion is always a good option
