hi there

my father was on 24 hour holter monitoring last week, the result is
*basic rhythm is sinus with normal chonotropic response and normal AV conduction.
*occasional isolated supraventricular ectopic beats.
*very rare, isolated ventricular ectopic beats.
*no pauses.
*no ischemic changes.
He felt this thumping in her heart and connected to his xiphoid process when he was in saudi arabia. His co worker was died because of cardiac arrest and he was the one who helped him going to the hospital, then my father experienced nervousness and anxiety then he started to feel palpitation! According to his ECGs it is normal, but 1 of the ECG reprot says there is a PAC..He can work and exercise without shortness of breath and cannot feel dizzines. He only experiece anxiety sometimes and stress.

my question is:
1.is it normal??
2. is his anxiety can contribute to his palpitations??
3. is amiordarone can treat him to his palpitation???

pls reply. thnx

That report is normal.  I've got wayyyy more ectopics beats than he does and I take no meds and moved on with my life.    Yes anxiety can contribute to palpitations.

Amiordarone is a powerful drug, taking that drug for such minimal ectopic beats would be unethical in my humble opinion.  Amiordarone is used for life threatening ventricular arrhythmias which your father does not have.  Taking it for benign arrhythmias can create malignant arrhythmias where there is none (studies have shown this).  This is why I consider it unethical.    Don't take my word for it though, research this and talk it over with his doc.
