no diagnosis for irregular heart

I have a Ph.D in Clinical Nutrition and so I have a good working knowledge of my own body.  I have had palpitations ever since I can remember.  In the last 8-9 years, with menopause, the symptoms and intervals have increased.  In the last couple of months it will feel just like my heart is going to stop beating!  I am on a 12.5mg. of Tenormin.  It seems to help sometimes.  I have consistently run low blood pressures (90/54) and the Tenormin seems to lower it further.  It feels like syncope symptoms.  I went into emergency for symptoms and chest pressure.  EKG is normal.
Medication induced stress test (Adenosine) showed circulation to be normal.  SEVERE reaction as test was administred.  The echocardiogram was also negative, showing slight regurge from the Tri-cuspid valve.  The Cardiologist thinks its in my head.  I am absolutely mystified as to what to do next.

Your story sounds like mine. For the past 3 years I have been looking for an answer to this. I have had a 3 VERY scary episodes of what I describe as a LONG pause feeling. The only thing I have been diagnosed as having is pac/pvc. I can't figure out if this LONG pause is a symptom of the pac/pvc. I also get the sensation of my heart stopping. This is so frightening to say the least. My doc makes me feel like I should just accept this and get over it. It is hard because this does not feel normal. Hang in there!

Im with mabebesc! To me right about the time your cardio says its all in your head,is a good time to maybe find another one!!!!! I went through a few before I found one who would listen to me and take me seriously! My first visit with one was when I was 19,so of course I was too "young" to know what I was feeling or talking about. Its sad really that theres many doctors out there with that mentality.I would do this soon though because you said your symptoms are increasing.Take care !!!!!!!!

Hi,

What do you mean when you say you feel like your heart is going to stop beating?  Are you feeling skips and thumps or a very slowly beating heart? Have you thought of going to another cardiologist for a second opinion?
