persistant palpitations

iam 53 years old and was diagnosed with hypertension after i was admitted to hospital in 2006 for a more than two hours of irregular heart beats. from that date i have been experiencing those ectopic beats every day, mostly single ones throughout the day. iwas put on valsartan and atenelol since tthat but the beats are still there.six month ago a doctor suspected that i have a first degree heart block because of low heart rate. i did the holter test twice and the doctor said there was no serious arithmia. a cardiogram test in 2006 found normal regional walls, no cardiomopathy , a stage one dyastolic dysfunction and mild atrium dialation. iam very worried for the lack of progress and the side effects of medication are taking their toll on me. please help me.

this is mahaali again.

sorry for the confusion i caused but i meant that despite the 25 m beta blocker iam using for almost a year and totally abstinating from alcohol and caffeine drinks for more than 2 years the irregular beats are still there a daily occrance. i was dignosed as type a personality with high level of stress and anixiety which iam trying to reduce by trying to relax but to no avail. is there any link between the slow heart rate and palpitations or between hypertension and heart block. iam extremely worried, please i need to be informed.

Do you drink or eat anything with caffeine in it?  If so, stop....I use to get palpitations so bad that I thought I was going to pass out and die.  Doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong or get it to do it when I was there in there office.  I use to drink Pepsi everyday and one day decided to switch to caffeine free Pepsi and Wallah.......my heart palpitations completely stopped.  So if you drink anything with caffeine in it, stop drinking it and see if your irregular heartbeat goes away.
Good luck,
Kim

I'm probably just misreading, but I don't completely see what you're referring to when you say you're worried about the lack of progress.  Do you mean you're worried that nothing has been found so far to explain the irregular beats?  What sort of problems are your medications giving you?
