why does my heart rate drop after eating?

Hi, I'm a 32 year old woman,4 kids, stress, low immune response.  I have bad intestenal responses to milk and wheat and others.  I did a self allergy test where you relax for a few minutes take your pulse, mine 70, eat or in my case i drank the offending food wait 20 minutes test pulse again and if its 10 beats or more above your first count you more than likely have a food allergy.  I tested and was 63 for milk ,i double and triple checked to make sure, and 65 for soy, what the heak? why is there a slow response of the heart?  what does this indicate and should i be worried?

After I eat my heart rate normally tends to go a little tachy!!!!!!Therefore most of the time at work I will eat small bits because its a pain for me to have to clean while my heart is speedy!

99% chance that what you are witnessing is a direct response to digestion.  When food reaches the stomach the body responds by increasing blood flow to this organ so that it can be more active and do its job.  This increase in energy in the abdomen often results in lesser energy expenditure elsewhere in the body. Ever notice that you feel cooler after you eat then before? That's because your blood vessels constrict to keep maximum blood volume in your core to improve digestion rates.  Constricted blood vessels and decreased activity will easily lead to a drop in HR.  I'm sure it's absolutely NOTHING but a normal response to your activity at the time.

Take care.

Looking at posts with no response to see if I can help, guess not in this one as I am not aware of any relationship between HR and eating.  I'd guess that some may find an increase in the rest HR after eating because the stomach is busy working on the food, just a "logical" guess.  On the other hand, the HR will continue to slow when one takes a rest position for some time, I'd think.  I can't check on myself as I have AFib and my pulse is always "crazy".

This will put your post back on top, may cause others to read/respond.
