Hemies and Preperation H

I have used Preparation H suppositories for years.  They stop the pain, itch and discharge of fluid from my rectum.  I have now read where no one should use Prep H long term.   Is there something on the market that I don't know about that works as well with no consequences?

Hello! Welcome to the forum. Thanks for your question. First, it's always best to talk to your own doctor at your next visit about this. Prep H is generally considered an 'as needed' medication verses one taken as a regular regimen. It's considered safe by clinicians. Package insert recommends using only for 7 days to see if they heal but many use Prep H long term. Perhaps not daily as preventative but whenever they feel discomfort. Talk to your doctor.  This article that you can copy and paste talks about hemorrhoids that will not go away though. https://www.healthline.com/health/hemorrhoids-that-wont-go-away  Perhaps some of the things recommended to try in the article would decrease your need for the Prep H.
