Hey everyone so a few weeks back I had a painful bm with a bit of spotting. No spotting since then, but in the last few days I've had severe, awful pain when going. I have these fleshy skin tags outside the rectum that are about the size of half a pinkie finger, & very bulbous & sore. The pain when passing stool & afterwards until I can soak it in warm water is nearly unbearable! In the past I had an anal fissure and that pain was nowhere near this bad. So I visited my colorectal surgeon & he had me spread cheeks and looked and said I have a thrombosed hemorrhoid. He said it's unlikely it will get better itself and wants to do a hemorrhoidectamy/removal of all my skin tags and problems down there. I've had so many butt issues the last year or so..first it was the fissure, which healed, now it's this.
I do all the right things, stool softeners, fiber, etc, I'm 32 yo male in good shape. I took regular sitz baths even when I had no symptoms. Both my parents had hemorrhoids removed and they came through it ok. So that eases my mind somewhat. Though they were older than me when theirs were done.
So the doc is doing my procedure in 2 weeks. He didn't mention anything like lancing or banding, he just looked at my butt and decided that I need them removed. I'm tempted to just let him, because isn't hemorrhoid removal basically 95% effective and permanent?
And I'd rather get it over with and resolve this and move on with my life if I have to. In the mean time, I'm really hoping something can ease the immense pain with bowel movements I'm experiencing. I've only been having this a few days. It seems maybe the roid was inside and somehow worked it's way outside and now that's why it hurts so much to go. I've had no bleeding so far knock on wood.
The colorectal doc I'm seeing is super nice and everyone rates him very highly so I trust him, I'm just a little nervous still..He did tell me this procedure is one of the most painful one can have..so he didn't sugarcoat. But I guess if I need it done, so be it.
