Different people have different reactions to interferon.  Some do quite well and continue to work.  Lamivudine is no longer considered a suitable first line therapy.

I feel soooo bad for you.  I don't know interferon didn't work for me.  I was born with HBV, and took interferon when I was 9 or so.  It made me horribly sick, every night I took it.  I had fevers of 104 and 105, I was always soo nauseated.  Worst feeling ever by far.  EVER.  Good luck, I hope it helps you.  There are other therapies available, like lumivudine, and there have beeen experimental studies shown with both medicines, but you'll have to look it up.

>>>If you do reach your goal with one course of treatment

I mean "If you do not reach your goal with one course of treatment"

Sorry.

"The advantage of interferon is that you can stop treatment in some patients. And certainly with 12 months treatment about 15-20 percent of patients would have a sustained response with two years treatment."

>>>do i need to continue? What will happen if i stop?

I think with interferon treatment if you reach your goal, the response stays.  If you do reach your goal with one course of treatment, I have read that some papers say that the longer the treatment the more patients will reach their goals.

Best.
