Long time efficacy of TENOFOVIR

Tenofovir is very effective in the treatment of chronic hepatitis b   Hbeag negetive patient , but my concern is that I want to find out the efficacy and safety of tenofovir in chronic hbeag negetive patient since most patient need treatment for life time 1) say efficacy for 20 years without causing any other damage to vital organ like kidney and probably any hope of hbsag loss or good viral suppression and improve liver condition and fibrosis regression

Stephen are you talking here about this particular research with regards to start-stop reduction of hbsag?

Interruption of nucleos(t)ide analogue therapyin HBeAg-negative chronic hepatitis B - a newconcept to achieve HBsAg reduction?

"univeral vaccination has made hbv disappear in italy/european good healthcare countries"
That is also a cause for drug companies not making cure or pricing them very high. Older patients are dying newer incidence are reducing leading to lower prevalence hence demand supply and inflation comes in scene.

hbv is harmless when treated correctly like most of us is doing here and even when compensated cirrhosis is reached because it will regress to normal liver

the problem is not treating and reaching decompensated cirrhosis but even then liver transplant saves life.it is all a matter of good healthcare systems when hbv/liver function is routinely checked.hbv is also unknown in generation next to mine since univeral vaccination has made hbv disappear in italy/european good healthcare countries

Ya I wud also not say this virus harmless coz in my knowing one of my friend lost her life due to fulminant hbv. Also a guy who lost life to hbv at 35. Hbv is said harmless as it do not causes any disability in life quality until cirrhosis at late stages unlike other viruses like Ebola and h1n1 which are highly fatal at short term outcomes. Any way hbv should not be termed as harmless coz somehow it is damaging the liver either on its own or via immune mediation. It's presence is an omen.

Jason, I think it would be great to hear what side effects you had from everything. As everyone else has said, we can learn from each other and help each other avoid or combat any debilitating side effects for anything.

I'm sorry to hear your friend lost her life during treatment. That typically is not common. Was it the treatment that took her life or was it the disease itself? How far into this was she? Was she in End Stage Liver Disease?

Almost everyone worries about this disease every day, who have it. We pray and hope for a cure!

I ve read stem cell treatment

this field is still in the early stage i dont think this can be useful to us at all, maybe we get some results on cirrhosis in the following years

Hi all members am appealing to all not to abuse each other on this forum we are here to share treatment experience and learn from each other . Our concern should be how to defect HBV in our body ... Hi Jason can you please tell us clear the side effect you experience while on peg inter treatment ?  So that we can learn as for me I didn't feel any side effect that will affect or run my life and make it worst than HBV . I will suggest if peg inter will add to health issue I av already no need to take it . That. Is my opinion . Please anyone with any information about the negetive effect of peg inter on body that out weight it's benefit of reducing the impact of HBV on the liver should tell us now so that we can learn from it

Do you have idea about stem cell capsule?? i heard that this stem cell capsule can cure and eradicate the virus meaning HBSAG can be clear..

My husband is hepa b positive but hbeag is non-reactive, HBV DNA is undetectable since he had interferon shots for 6 months. But recently he has test since he finished the interferon treatment and unfortunately -- elevated SGPT, but still hbeag non-reactive.

His doctor advised him to do interferon treatment again for 6 months or anti viral drug (oral) for 1 year..

I need opinion guys.. is it okay to take anti viral drug again??

You have asked some very good questions. I try to answer with what I understand.
Tenofovir is so far 100% no drug resistance because of its high potency and high genetic barrier to drug resistance. High potency means it can inhibit viral replication quickly and highly effectively. With very low or undetectable viral load means NO Replication = NO Resistance. Secondly, it requires more than one genetic mutation in the hbv genome to affect the potency of Tenofovir.

Does frequent start-stop increase Tenofovir drug resistance. It is a moot point, but so far we don't have enough studies and clinical experiences to say one way or the other. I think for patients who suffered a rebound after stopping, resuming Tenofovir seems to work just as effectively as before stopping.

Just my opinion.

Hi Jason, can you please elaborate more what side effects did you have from which of the medicines, especially importantly if any of these medicines negatively affected your long-term health?
I hope you can share it, so we can benefit from your story...
Thx

Hi Jason,

After seeing atleast few patients in my circle, just they ignore this disease and they never bothered about the disease and they are doing just fine.

As we are the people who are monitoring the disease, in my view atleast its the disease which we shouldn't worry about if we are taking the treatment if required..so i dont think calling this disease as harmless makes sense as it doesnt show symptpms in most of the patients. Its harmful for the people who has it and who is not aware that they have it.

I also meant to say sequential therapy of peg and tdf 5yrs. After all most of us are nucs and will remain on it. Ppl on sequential peg even 2 times have failed hence I wanted to say anyone trying third peg(of course on tdf). I got ur idea of 60% will clear Sag so will not the remaining 40% on peg sequential so b mentally prepared for the risk like we do it at 90% failure and 10% clearance only on peg mono or peg + tdf start together.

Dude I'm no damn troll. I've taken both and I'm having harsh side effects. Telling people that there's no side effects from peg, entecavir, or tenofovir is extremely ignorant. Do you want to see my lab work before treatment of Entecavir or Tenofovir? Telling people that hbv is "harmless" is the most dumbest thing I've heard on here. The "harmless" hbv took my friends life while she was on treatment. Are you sponsored by some of these companies? You sound just like a robot. You're no expert, only a student. So cut the crap.
