Question for all you veterans of the board

It seems to me that you guys have some far reaching experience in this field, I can tell by going off of some of your posts you all know what your talking about. My ALT has been elevated and the doctor has taken blood for the full hep panel but as you can imagine it is pretty nerve racking wait. I am not so much concerned about the disease because if I have it then I have it, to late to worry about it. So I  mine as well focus my attention on how to get better. I had an ultrasound done 2 or 3 months ago and everything was stellar. I can't complain about any problems because I have none (symptom wise), however my ALT was elevated and it read 59. My previous readings were 64,74,47,75 . My liver enzymes were said to be a tad elevated as well. I am an avid weight lifter and was told that may or may not have an effect. I don't drink often (twice a month), nor do I take prescription drugs or any kind of drugs for that matter. I'd like to hear peoples thoughts about the chances that this could be a Hep infection? Thanks.

It would best not to speculate at this point.  Wait for the lab results.

I don't quite understand the steps the drs have taken. Why would they do an ultrasound without first doing blood tests? That seems bizarre to me.

ALT can be raised from weightlifting (although I think AST is more affected) since it is an enzyme released from repairing muscles.

I really can't speak to the likelihood of that based solely on ALT.  ALT can be raised by a number of things. Are you male/female? How old? Asian? For what reason did you have a liver panel done?

Weight lifting can certainly raise ALT.
