hep B/HIV how soon detected following needlestick injury

  work related needle stick injury whilst clearing a house, dirty needle  last week, he has now been diagnosed with HIV andHep B, is blaming the company.  My understanding is that you can not possibly sero convert in 5 days.  Either he knew he had it and is softening the blow for his Mother or he didn't know.  Am I correct in thinking it could not have been contracted by this old dirty needle??? or in 5 days.  Is it usually 6 weeks before testing then 3 months and 6 months before diagnosos can be confirmed or indeed diagnosed

also hbv can take even 6 months to start an infection (nothing happens before) so dont waste time by checking hbsag, it is useless, you just have to take vaccine since you have as little as a couple of weeks to 6 months for the infection to start and virus to show up in the blood

hbv must not be detected, useless, you must take immune globulins and hbv vaccine and not worry about hbv.in any case even if you get it hbv is cleared more than 95% cases as adults, it gets cronic only at birth or very young

as to hiv it is all another story, no vaccine available so you just have to check and hope you didnt get it

you forgot hcv which has no vaccine too and gets cronic on more than 80% according to genotypes
