Excellent video! I did skip through parts of the latter half since I'm not cirrhotic. Did anyone else notice the "hep, hep, hurray"? :)
Also, I noticed that the word "cured" was never used, just "SVR".
Such an excellent presentation. I agree that what they have created at UCSF is, indeed, a 'healing community' - something that goes beyond just treating and being knowledgeable and pleasant!
I believe that Dr. T is advocating for all heppers, when she talks to these meetings - lighting a fire in the other Drs and future Drs to advocate strongly for their patients!
Great post. Thank you for bringing this to us!
My favorite part was when Dr. Terrault talked about advocating for her patients, about seeing the Big picture and her personal opinion that everyone should be treated and unfortunately, how the guidelines have been used to exclude patients when that was not their intent
At the end, Dr. Terrault also thanked the people on her team - the NPs, for example. That made me realize how different it is to be part of the community at UCSF where they truly care about what a patient is going through in every aspect of their lives. I have met some of these people - they attend support group meetings and give out their phone numbers and emails. They know that Heppers face stigma and their frustration about feeling tired all the time
Just made me sigh and wish I had a "team" like that.
Also, Hector, Dr. Terrault is beautiful! - how perfect to have someone so intelligent and easy on the eyes as your doctor!
Thank you so much. Dr. Terrault is amazing. The video is wonderful.
