3 Month blood work UND

This has been quite a journey and I'm beyond happy to report that my 3mo. blood work came back UND!!!!
I did 48 wks and relasped. My Dr. said if I wanted to wait to retreat when new meds came out I could or do 72wks.  After reading this forum I decided that the results for geno type 3A were'nt promising with new meds so I went for the 72 wks 5mos after completing 48wks. It was one of the hardest decisions I've had to make because I had just started to feel somewhat better. I responed faster the second time around 7-8 weeks compared to 12-16 weeks the first time. I also took some advice from someone on this forum and increased my riba to 1200 the first 3mos as I had some left over from 1st tx. This was not something my nurse recommended but I thought if I could tolerate it without having to low of red blood ct. I would go for it. I dont know for sure if it made the difference but I'm just sharing what I did so others can decide for themselfs. The first tx my sides were managable the usual suspects were present but I worked the whole time and just laid low, plenty of rest and lots of water. My 2nd tx was much more difficult. I did'nt lose as much hair or weight but I got the riba rash bad.I also decided to get my medical marijuna to help with my restlesness and flu like symtomes. I did tell my dr. and she agreed that it could help and there was no evidence that it would change results. I wanted to quit often but my nurse would remind me of what I had said when I started that I was committed to do whatever it took to rid my body of the virus. I am confident that I am healed now and feeling wonderful. My energy, skin, hair and overall health is making a comeback. I started working out and doing bikrum yoga which has been amazing at helping me detox the drugs from my body. I also joined a gym that has a infarred sauna and I go in and sweat for an hour, 3-4 a wk. I hope by getting these drugs out as quickley as possible to keep the long term side effects at bay. Thanks to all who participate on this forum we all make a difference!

Sorry for the long delay on responding but thank you for your kind words. I was not able to workout much while on tx just no energy left over after working for that. I completed tx in Nov. 2010 / 72 wks Bikrum yoga is 90 mins at 105 degree's 26 poses each pose you do twice. It certainly would be great if you can continue a workout program while on tx but if not you wont be alone Good luck and keep it up as long as you can.

Im glad for you and sound like someone that gives me hope. Did you stop treating on the second go round or are still doing the 72 weeks? And was you actually working out at the gym or just sweating which is alot? If so, you where working and working out and I hope if I have to treat I can do this. Im working out now, hopefully if I do have to treat this may help to be in great shape before I start treating. Thanks again and congradulations on your success!

Great news!!! Wow, you are one tough cookie with back to back tx - and an extension on the latter....I also did 72 with the first 12 enhanced - because of cirrhosis and being a 1a though - with equally good results, but remember "those" days of having had enough. It is a hard choice, but one that worked for you!!

May you continue to get stronger and healthier - and best of luck with the 6 month PCR.

Congratulations, Pam

Wishing you continued UND.  I really like your approach to detoxing post tx - sounds smart to me.  I am also impressed that you had a nurse who actually got to do some nursing, i.e. helping you meet the challenges of seeing your way through therapy.  I hope that you enjoy a wonderful spring and an even better summer.
