if you can, i recommend waiting; less side effects is not in the pipeline, but less therapy time is; for right now, the new meds are being administered in combination with present TX; the sideeffects are the worry; however, the shorter time and proposed success rate seems to make sense at the end; depending on your liver condition, if you can, i recommend waiting; ciao C.
Don't understand what you are asking? Are you worried about sexually transmitted disease or pregnancy? This forum deals with hepatitis C and unless you have engaged in risky behavior which may have put you at risk for contracting hepc, or you are infected with hepc and want to know what the odds of your partner contracting the disease, I'm not sure what advise you want. One good bit of advise is to do not have unprotected sex.

They won't be able to cause LESS side effects because technically although they might be shorter they will contain the exact same two medications we take right now plus they add another one (In the case of the drug that currently is the most promising looking) and that is IF they are approved by the FDA.
Nobody can tell you exactly how treatment will treat you. For some people it's not that bad and they tolerate it quite well. For others it's a horror.
From my own experience (which is really all I have) I did 72 weeks of the stuff and although it was dreadful I managed to work almost every day (I was out 3 total days). As a single mother I didn't have a choice but I muddled through.
First you should get a biopsy done to determine how much liver damage you have and see if it's CRUCIAL for you to treat or not. If you have a low number of liver damage perhaps you can wait and see what comes down the road. If you have a higher number and you do have to treat - well knowing it is saving your life really changes everything.
Good luck.
