Ammonia level too high?

My 40 year old daughter has ESLD from alcohol. She has esophogeal varicies and stomach varicies. She goes to the hospital about once a month with bleeding. The last time she was there they put a stent in her liver and she was put into an induced coma and was on a ventilator. On Friday she was so yellow that I'm fearful her meds are not working. She is also confused and is hallucinating and delusional. I am not able to get her to go back to the doctor and I am fearful  of leaving her alone. I am not able to go to work and I cannot afford to hire someone to watch her. She says she is taking her lactulose but I think her ammonia level is too high. If I can get her to take her lactulose, can she improve?  I did not sleep last night because she did not sleep. She got dressed at 3 AM to go have breakfast with her 15 year old son who lives with a relative.

I'm sorry I had not read this before now...

First - if she is confused and delusional - you don't have to "fight" to get her to go to a hospital.

You can go to the courts and ask a judge for assistance to take her into protective custody. Or Title 47. Where you have medical and police assistance.

If you have a welfare office - or a police station you can start calling and asking for assistance --- ASK:

Where do I go?

What do I do?

How do I get her into the hospital - I cannot carry her - I'm not strong enough - etc.

She needs to be in a hospital if she is delusional - and is jaundiced that badly.

The police station can direct you to your next step.

They may even assist you ---- call them and ask for a WELFARE CHECK --- because your daughter isn't making "any sense on the phone" --- and she previously has been hospitalized for ESLD.

If the officer on scene determines she needs medical help - he will summon an ambulance (or he should)...

OK?

Get her to the hospital in any way that you can.

Much love and luck.

I'd do my best to get her to a doctor...What about her diet?  I'm sure they have told ya'll what to avoid but if not I'd get her off of any meat.  I don't know if that would help right now but it might slow it down in the future.
I wish you and your daughter the best.

Lactulose is important to take to keep that ammonia in check. Sounds like she is in really bad shape. Is she able to get on a transplant list?  Prayers to you.
