Another Telaprevir Success Story

For all those who remember HCA who was in a Telaprevir trial I am reporting he was UND 13 wks post tx and going for his 24 wk PCR next week.  He is certain of SVR and I am so delighted for him.  He is no longer a member of MedHelp but sends his regards to all.

Trinity, I am very happy you posted this, such great news!  HCA helped me so much when my husband and I were deciding whether he should participate in a trial.  Please express my gratitude to him when you next are in touch.

My post was removed for some reason. I just want to say that I am very happy for HCA. It is a wonderful news! I am sure he will get his SVR.

Congrats, HCA!

Way to go, and after multiple treatments, what a beautiful celebration. :) :) :)

I'm super happy to hear your news and also know how this provides hope and optimism to so many.

Like Andiamo, the telaprevir went where SOC couldn't, for guys like you.

I also remember you were in the Vertex study without any rescue drugs and had to have several blood transfusions. We're talking so little hemoglobin at transfusion levels - I only know how bad it felt in the nines. :(

So, did you wear out your couch? I think you said you worked through earlier treatments but just couldn't work through this last one.

You came up with a cool and winning strategy and stuck with it. I wish you a very smooth finish, HCA.

Warm regards and best wishes,

Susan

P.S. Wish we could talk about the Losartan and its possible effect on fibrosis reversal. I'd like to know if it's worth switching from an ACE to an ARB, for that reason alone. Oh, and my HBP is better than ever since SVR, although it's not likely related. (?)

Thanks for the update, Trinity. I tried unsuccessfully to reach him through Medhelp a while back; this is wonderful news, and very timely for him too. If you’re able to, please return my personal regards and best wishes,
