Any one genotype 3?

Just met with my Hep/Transplant Dr's re: new Hep C meds. Was told the results have been great if one is genotype 1 - but not so with genotype 3. Happy to hear they are/have gotten away from the interferon treatments as of late, Is there anyone else here that is in the similar situation as I? They claim there is research occurring to treat us with 3, and hope to have something in the next year. I am next scheduled to have a fibroscan on my new liver to get a closer look at any scarring up to date.

I was genotype 3 and successfully treated with interferon/ribavirin 8 years ago after 20 years of chronic hcv.

There are a number of us on here who have or had Gt3.  Several are in treatment, some have SVR'd (HepC Speak for cured), and, sadly, a few of us have failed.

Some of those treating now are using the newly released Harvoni with Ribavirin, and some are still being treated with Sovaldi with Ribavirin.

Also, many were treated earlier with some form of Interferon with Riba.  Again, some successes, some failures.  I treated the first time in 94/95 with the very old Tx (treatment) of Interferon Alpha B(2, I think).  I was either a null responder or relapsed before end of Tx, not sure which.  Finished the Sol/ Riba 12-1-14.  Had my End of Treatment 12 weeks Labs drawn 2-25-15 and am waiting on pins and needles to get the results on 3-9-15.  I'll let you know the results then.

Daclatisvir (brand name Daklinza) has been studied extensively with Sovaldi and has been approved for use in combination w/Sol, in Europe.  I hope they hurry up and get it approved here.

We Gt3s are the hardest to 'cure' BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT MANY ARE NOT BEING CURED!!  Our percentage of possibility is just not as high as others, but, as my Doctor said, 'If you are one of the ones who reach SVR, percentages don't matter'.  Of course, Tx naive (people who have never been treated with any other hepc meds) have the best chance on these wonderful new drugs, but they are not the only ones who reach SVR (Sustained Viral Response).

Feel free to ask all your questions, and someone will either have the knowledge, or suggestions of where to find them.  As you probably already know, this is a very caring, supportive, helpful and very very knowledgeable Community.

Good Luck and good healing!
