Update

I am not sure which side of the Board this should go on but here goes.
As some of you know, I completed tx about 14 months ago and I have had a rough time recovering from it.

After about 6 months, my recovery seemed to plateau. I came to the place where I accepted, this was as good as it was going to get and the damage was permanent. I would go to work, come home, and sit on the couch (this included weekends).

About 2 weeks ago, I woke up, and it was like a light switch had been turned on. I have energy and I feel like getting out of the house and doing things.

I don’t know if this had anything to do with it or “The Gods ruled enough is enough”. About 4 weeks ago my Doctor put me on Cymbalta. I tried it for a little over a week and had to stop taking it because of the sx. About a week after I stopped taking them was when I started feeling better. I don’t know if the Cymbalta may have “triggered” something or it is just a coincidence.

Even though I am not 100%, I have hope that I soon will be. Thanks to all of you that have supported (or tolerated) me during Pre-tx, tx, and Post-tx, Ricky G

That is just fascinating to think about.  I vote for the trigger notion.  I think cymbalta is an SSRI, an antidepressant that slows the disappearance of serotonin from the blood.  Maybe your serotonin was out of balance and a week of Cymbalta pushed your natural system back into place.

All of those antidepressants' info always begins with "We don't know exactly how this works", which is a little disconcerting, but regardless, it sure worked for you.  That's great.

Hey, glad to hear that you are finally feeling better.  It took longer than you would want but at least you are finally getting there.

Nonsense to "putting up with you".  You have always been the sort that helped make the forum a great place to be.

Wishing you all the best and a complete recovery.

happy trails,
Willy

I love that the 'light switch turned on" - fantastic for you after accepting that it's as good as it gets.

I guess it takes different bodies different times to adjust.   AND not only are we adjusting to getting rid of the meds, but our bodies are working to get everything else in order that had been compromised over the years from the virus itself.

It's been a long run for you and I truly hope it just gets better and better.  Thanks so much for the update..

So good to know how you're doing.  I'm just 8 wks post tx and waiting for the light bulb.  I really am feeling better, maybe it will be a more gradual thing for me, who knows?

But the most important thing is, you're feeling better even after this many months, and even though it took a while, you seem to now have confidence that you will get back to yourself.  I think all those of us who tx must wonder when that will happen for us.  These meds altered me so much, not sure what my new "normal" will be.  It's good to hear from you that it is still getting better, even when you thought you'd plateau'd.

Really glad the light switch turned on. It was a long, long wait.

I wonder if it was just a coincidence about the med and the turn around.

Very happy to hear from you (it's been a while), miss your jokes and look forward to a light switch of my own.

And I haven't forgotten our bet. :)

Please stay in touch. Have you been riding the mechanical bull lately?

Hey, I am really glad to hear your news.  I went thru the same thing and then the light switch...............it took me about 12 or 13 months and I have been busy doing all the things I just looked at and said "tomorrow I will do it, NOT",

Glad to hear your good news
