Bad breath

My husband had a TBI (traumatic brain injury) 26 years ago, and we think that he got hep c then. We were just told that he has this last week and we're waiting for the tests to come back for the results or levels. He is about 6 years old mentally and he has epilepsy from the accident. He takes 3 anti seizure meds and one for psychosis and one for anger. My question is this: does elevated ammonia levels cause bad breath? Just a few months ago this started to happen. Now his breath is never good, even after he brushes.
