The PA said for me to take MT, so I'll think I'll take 2 a day, but I will call to see what they say. They won't treat the HCV for at least 6 months, if they do. I need to wait for a follow up CT to check lesions on the liver & kidney, also more bloodwork.
Thanks again, Mike
I just got my latest copy of the German Liver magazine with all the updates from the AASDL
in Boston as well innovative ways to deal with HCC and a new way to measure iron stores
of the liver called FerriScan. It`s a form of MRI that shows iron depsits ect....
I was surprised to see Silibin IVs being mentioned again and not only that it was compared
to work like a "natural" PI. Apparently Silibin IVs alone can knock down the viral load substantially but fail to erradicate it. It was mentioned that this could have a place during tx when you get stuck with low level viremia that never goes undetected. Two IVs of Silibin
could knock it out to UND.
It was also mentioned that the oral version (MT) does not have that effect and that Silibin
is expensive and it remains to be seen if anyone will pick the research on it.
just thought that was interesting.....
Well please accept my apology. There are so many people on this forum that are so against supplements. Certain people just want some hope there being helped by something other than TX and I truely believe they HELP. Anyways it's all good and again I am sorry.
Hey I do shot 22 today too. It's a small world after all.........
I've never had any other disease. But it seems a lot of heppers will try anything. I'm not talking about liver health off treatment with ML. But trying to get rid of the virus, via treatments meant for dogs, mystery herbs, ozone therapy, eating well....ect. It's a virus there is one proven way of getting rid of it. Why all the BS that doesn't work ?
Do cancer patients blow off tx and try licorice root type remedies too ?
Thanks Boobert! Who knows.. I may be depending on MT someday.. All jokes aside, we are all in this together, and we have lots of new stuff on the horizon! I love all you folks, and never mean any harm..
Alright I'll lighten up, your right about laughter. The pri*k part did make me smile. I hope you SVR bro. Good luck to you.
Everyone on here has the right to joke around and lighten the atmosphere - thank God. Unless one is very unsure of the position of what they are speaking to it shouldn't bother them at all if someone is goofing around when it's politely done as was in this case.
My answer was legitimate my friend. Have you tried the celery thing? I didnt think so... It just so happens that the rash I had behind my ears IS GONE! And by my calculation, the average treatement amount of RIBA is 800-1200, bringing the MT dose to around 2 tablets. Be careful using the rubber bands to hold the celery in place though, it can restrict the blood flow to the ears and cause other problems. Thanks NYGIRL for the info about not taking the stuff during treatment.. I honestly did not know that!
The only times I feel good during my treatment are when I smile or laugh. I am injecting shot 22 of 48 today, and so far am doing very well according to my blood work. A positive fun loving lifestyle that includes a little laughter is probably one of the best non-FDA approved supplements to good health in general. Lighten up, dont be such a pri*k, Smile! You will live longer!
Prior to starting tx.I was disqualified at first from entering my trial because of very high enzymes.I had 3 wks. to lower them drastically so the only thing I could think of to do was to increase MT to almost 4 x the amount I had been taking and within 2 wks.my numbers were cut in half...was it the MT.?..I guess I won"t ever know for sure...not sure if that helps .just my experience

studies have shown that more is better in fact a high potency injectable form proved much more effective than capsules
I take one 150 mg of milk thistle 2x a day just to hedge my odds.
Also have found that wide rubber bands help keep celery behind my ears while I sleep.
Thanks all, even for the humor! The manufacturers dosage amounts would be either 2000 or 4000, I just thought this was odd. For now I will take 1 and ask the Doc later.
Magnums dose looks good to me and he sees good Dr.'s and they approve. Research from the Halt C trial says it is helpful. Many intelligent people think it is worth taking.
Ev
Take your ribavirin dose and divide it by 1000. Then take that figure and multiply it by two. Then you subtract one from that figure and you get the number of tablets. Also, it wouldnt hurt to take that figure and mutiple it by two.. Thats the number of pieces of celery to keep behind your ears between the hours of two and four AM on even days of the week. :)
1 is enough ....my gastro advised me to take it while I wait for PI's along with a good multi..
I defintitely wouldn't take more than 2 a day. Milk Thistle seems to help with inflammation. I'm a big believer.
I take 1000mg daily. My Hepatologist and Gastroenterologist both said that's fine...
