Hello there! I had the burning tongue during tx, almost as if I had eaten a hot slice of pizza and the cheese had burned me very badly.
I tried everything to improve it, drank a lot of water, ate yogurt to sooth it. As mentioned above, I also got the magic mouthwash to numb the pain. You can ask your doctor to prescribe. From what I have read they can put many things in to it, benedryl, numbing agents, etc. The pharmacy has to compound it for you based on what the doctor wants for you.
I also used Biotene gel and mouth spray to try to keep the tongue inside of mouth moist. The tx was very drying to my mouth and eyes. At one point I had some kind of sore on my lip which was so painful I could not open my mouth, I put some cortizone on it and that helped quite a bit.
It did improve once I was off treatment, I wish the best for you, hang in there.

Magic Mouthwash is prescribed to chemotherapy patients who regularly have that same problem. "Chemocare.com" will give you more info about what to do about mouth sores and relief.
Sorry you have this issue to deal with. I dealt with the burning tongue when I had chemotherapy for cancer. Magic mouthwash is a special prescribe mouth wash. It mixed specifically for you. Drug therapies effect people differently. Call your doctor and get relief.
Best to you
Yes it will go away after treatment. But no need to suffer during treating, ask your Pharmacist for something to try that's OTC to help numb it. And if this don't work talk to your doctor about getting a RX for what's called "magic mouthwash". Good luck to you
