CA Hepatologist Referral Q

Hello again:  I'm moving from Chicago area to central Calif this summer for a year.  My doc wants to begin tx soon but I'm thinking I should wait and begin tx in California.  I've made some contacts with a medical facility in Los Angeles and will probably qualify for a clinical trial there.  It is almost 3 hours away, however, traffic unaccounted for.  I'm wondering 1.) how often on average do patients need to appear in person for clinical trials and 2.) does anyone know of any good referrals in the central CA area?

Thanks in advance ~

Welcome back. The only drawback would be that you’d probably need to travel to SF for any trial work; I treated with them in Sacramento, and would have had to make the run to SF if trial participation was required. Be sure to contact them regardless though; they may have other options available. I really can’t speak highly enough about them; they run a very efficient operation.

Be well—

Thanks for the info, BIll, AND for the welcome!  I can't wait to get back to Cali!  (Lived there for one year when I was a teen.)

I'm really thrilled about this info.  Fresno will be very close for me.  I'll be sure to contact them.  Thanks a bunch!

Hi there,

California Pacific Medical Center is a cutting edge liver clinic located in San Francisco; however, they have outreach clinics in Northern CA and Nevada. Here is a URL for their outreach locations:

http://www.cpmc.org/advanced/liver/physicians/outreach.html

Their Fresno office is here, but they have other locations as well:

Fresno/Clovis
Physician:
Robert Gish, M.D., Todd Frederick, M.D.
Contact/Location:
Clovis Liver Clinic
685 Medical Center Drive, Suite 101
Clovis, CA 93611
Tel. 916/732-4380

CPMC is headed up by Dr Robert Gish; he is highly regarded by his peers, and the clinic is a research (trial) as well as transplant center. I treated with this outfit for years, and am now SVR. I feel the doctors and staff is highly qualified; I strongly recommend them. Good luck, and welcome to Cali!
