Cirrhosis - Understanding the Basics

The hope for all patients with hepatitis c is to never progress to cirrhosis, but for many it is a daily reality.  For those who want to understand more about cirrhosis, what it means, and current treatments, some helpful and detailed explanations can be found here:

http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/185856-overview

As many of you know, treating hepatitis c and related complications is fairly fledgling science: we have a long way to go, and many doctors are not the most 'up-to-date' on the latest and best options.  There is still much progress to be made in the management of patients with cirrhosis, but I post this in hopes that people who are looking for information in trying to understand a diagnosis of cirrhosis and appropriate treatments will find it a helpful overview.
Good wishes to all. ~eureka

In retrospect, I realize that the web page I referenced is perhaps a bit overwhelming and more technical than many will find useful.  A more succinct summary can be found here:

Also for those who are at Stage 3 liver disease and hesitating about treatment, at least educate yourself about what it means to be Stage 4 before you rule out trying to cure hepatitis c.
