Could I Have Contracted Hepatitis C?

This might be a crazy question, but I don't know much about Hepatitis C.

I was at work, and I was pulling the papers out of the record of a patient with confirmed Hepatitis C.  I accidentally cut myself on the metal piece that holds the papers in, and I started bleeding.

We treat a lot of patients with HIV and Hepatitis C, so I guess it would be helpful to know whether or not I need to worry about either infection.  I work with the records a lot, so I do tend to get paper cuts on the forms, etc.

The reason I ask is because the patients touch many of the papers to review and sign them, and sometimes they get food, etc. on the pages.  I'm sure that sometimes they may be bleeding or have bodily fluids on their hands, etc.

Thanks so much for the help!

I don't work directly with the patients - just the records, because I'm an administrative employee.

We were trained, but it was a more general training about the chances of contracting bloodborne infections via contaminated needles.

I also tend to have a lot of anxiety, anyway.
