my 1st shot

hi everyone,
i fared not to bad yesterday. bad body aches in legs, back and neck. other than that i did well. i slept all day and that helped alot. by the time i had to go to work last night my legs were better. i could move without hurting to much. the battle has begun. 23 weeks left!. thoughts and prayers to all. if yesterday was the worst i'll feel then i'm all good. i can deal with that. time will tell.
much love to all.

Did you remember to take the tylenol with your shot?  I always took them and fared pretty well except for exhaustion the day after. I never got a fever until about week 30 - and they didn't last but a few weeks.

The harder sides were later on.....be careful to make sure your hemo is closely monitored!

Good luck and congrats.

I will take my 5th shot tonight & so far really not too bad.  Sometimes get tired and need to take a nap, a little nausea and sweats/chills here and there.  Still going to school full time & plan to continue.

One of the good sides for me is I have lost 10 lbs. already.  It would be scary if that continued, but I still have a pretty good appetite.  Still kinda early though.

Good Luck going forward!

Congratulations on starting the journey!  I'm on 9 of 24.  My first one was quite a bit worse, hit me 8 hours after shot, shakes, chills, aches, fever, lasted about 5 hours real bad, then recovery started.  Not nearly as bad each progressive shot, so it's a breeze now.  I post this because I wish I'd known then that it's possible to snap out of it so quickly.  Alone, and at my very sickest, I was losing hope!  Now I'm doing great, no riba sides, except some anemia and accompanying fatigue..  RVR, at 4 weeks, und.<50
Very much worth my minimal sides. Check out my journal entry for managing sides.

PegonPeg:  I recommend having an electric blanket or heating pad handy.  Also large package of frozen peas works GREAT for body aches, and stays cold a long time, molds to head, very comfortable I think, compared to regular ice packs that are either too hard, or don't stay cold!!

Drink WATER!   Good luck to you guys

Irish,

This is great news!  My first shot is in less than 12 hours...I did my first riba this morning.

Here's hoping that BOTH of us have nothing worse than you have so far.

Good luck, Uni!!
