First month test results on Harvoni

Hep C Geno 1B  I just got my results back and went from 2,688,000 to 198.I have Doctor appt in 10 days and wanted to know if they ever add Riboviran to treatment?. I heard that having a high count for a long time, takes longer to clear.  Is there any truth to this?  This is my 4th treatment and have always been a slow responder.  I cleared once but relapsed in 1 month in an earlier treatment. Am scheduled for 24 week treatment of Harvoni due to cirrhosis. Will they make me quit  or allow me to continue a second month due to my history?

I hope you are undetectable on your next test. I'll be starting 24 weeks soon.

Hi Badger

The treatment for genotype 1 with cirrhosis is 24 weeks so jet under six months. I was UND at week 4 GT1a w/ cirrhosis currently just finishing week 11 with 15 to go.

Because of my multiple treatments with interferon and my relapse after Sivaldi Olysio last year and my cirrhosis dx in Jan 08 my doctor and I agreed it would be a good idea to add Ribavirin your situation may be different.

What week was that test? Have you treated before?

Many have had detectable part way in that is why we treat for so long. The important thing is you had a significant reduction in viral load. Don't worry the odds are in your favor.

Hi Badger......I had a VL OF 11.5m and became undetected in 21 days so you are definitely on track. Is there a reason you want to add Riba.  I'm no dr. but your Hepa decided not to have Riba.  It looks as tho you are exactly where you should be. I wouldn't worry about adding Riba. If the dr. didn't prescribe it then he seems confident that you will clear w/o it.
