All Genotypes 1's are harder to clear. I had both 1A and 1B and I was able to clear 1B after several heavy duty treatments, but my 1A remains the stubborn one, in my body, after 9 treatments!!!! Go figure! Susan
Either or .. I think the difference is minimal enough that it's not worth getting into a large debate over. Really.. they are both Genotype 1 and the usual things for Genotype 1 apply to both. I have both of them and it hasn't had any bearing on my treatment decisions by my doctors whatsoever. You are each different flavours of the same Genotype.
I've heard 1a and b are pretty similarly....the bad boys of the genotypes.
It's a relief to know you did not give it to each other.....
I've been battling with does my son have it (from birth) or not (2 ps. 2 neg tests) and it's a heartache to think of spreading any disease.
Maybe you can take this and look at it from the bright side, you can help each other get well...and then think twice about future risky business.....
I'm 5 months int tx.....I can't imagine what HIV would be like....downing 20 nasty drugs a day to stay alive.....at least there's a light at the end of this tunnel for many of us.
glad you are tolerating tx so well......boy is that a blessing!
Hi Bill ... not much difference between the two. I happen to be both, 1a and 1b. In the various studies I've read, those with both tend to clear the 1b first and the 1a is a little tougher to clear but not significantly so. Really... they are both simply Genotype 1 when it comes to treatment protocols and such.
I am SO glad to hear that things are going great for you!! You toughed it out and you deserve a bit of rest from the sides for as long as it holds. Wishing you the best, Bill.
