shorter time for hep c treatment info

This article mentions nothing about the Vertex statement in their  labeling that :
Treatment naives patients with cirrhosis who are UND. at week 4 and 12  "may " benefit from an additional 24 weeks of  Peg/Riba for a total of 48 weeks.

And as you know this is a bit of a grey area  because of the fact there  were such a small number of cirrhotics in the ad-hoc data.
I guess it comes down to what your side effects are like at the 24 week mark and ,how much stock you and your doctor put in the word " may" in the recommendations.
Personally...If I was chirrotic..... unless I was having extreme difficulty with treatment I would give my self the absolute best chance to clear this time  and that would be doing 48.
If I failed, and then possibly could not treat again for many years, if ever, possibly because of resistance issues and the cirrhosis looming I would feel I did not do everything possible.
However...always a personal desicion and one made with the advice of a knowledgeable  Hepa.
