HVC

have telaprevir and/or boceprevir been approved by the fda or are they still in clinical trials? i have taken pegasys for 48 weeks and relapsed 2 months later.  would either of these drugs be good for me...i am genotype 1a. i had terrible side effects from pegasys. :(
also, I have epilepsy and hypothyroidism...I'm always tired, I don't eat right and often depressed...are these related to the hvc or are these things i can control by myself.
i'm tempted to try a weight loss program that will give me a jump start and maybe motivate me, but i don't know if it's safe to go hand in hand with the hvc.  it's called hcg. do you know?

Yes, they were approved in May, The Telaprevir is used for Genotype 1a people and it has a 80% success rate in the trials, it is given together with the interferon and Riba.

Telaprevir is also called Incivek, Boceprevir is also called Victrelis. Relapsers to Interferon and and rivavirin have a very good response to these new drugs generally.

At what week did you become undetectable during treatment last time? Were you diagnosed with epilepsy and hypothyroidism before treatment or were they caused or exacerbated by treatment?

Hopefully and considering your medical issues you have a very good hepatoligist who you can seek advice from. I would expect since you live in NJ you have very good specialists available to you.

Yes, both are available.  You should make a visit to your doc.  Each one of them is used with peg and riba so you don't catch a break by avoiding those.  Being in the best shape you can before treatment, as with general health condidtions, is a very good start.
