Your low platelet count could be from the damage Hep C has done to your liver, at 75 about the only advice one could give you is to see a Hepatologist for answers, your lower platelets might also be from something else...... Just so you know while 80,000 is low you are not in any danger. My platelet count is in the 60's and really is not a problem. If for any reason you need any health care it would be a good ideal to let them be aware. I would also be cautious on taking any type of blood thinner. But really you need to get advice from a doctor.......... Good luck to you.

Hello, I am not sure what the question is as there are a lot of answers. My platelets were low, 65K back in 2007. The blood specialist told me that aspirin paralyzes the platelets for a week, while ibuprofen paralyses for a few days.  People with liver damage are told not to take either one.  If you take it you could stop and see if that will help you.  When I treated I was told I could take tylenol but not over 2,000 a day.

Another thing that might help you get more responses is if you were to give more information. Like what is your geno type, there is new treatment coming out in the next year. Have you treated yet?  Have you had a biopsy?
If you have little to no damage you could do nothing.

I hope you can give more information, more people can help.
Take care
Dee
