You can try calling local hospitals or universities that have hepatology department and ask if they have financial assistance or charity care programs.
Most provide help for low income patients.

As mentioned above, clinical trials can be a great way to go.

If you have not applied for MediCal, then you should apply.

http://www.dhcs.ca.gov/services/medi-cal/Pages/MCIndividual.aspx

Also, call your county social services department and your county Public Health Dept. They should know where you can get help with care.

Department of Public Health
351 N. Mt. View Avenue
San Bernardino, CA 92415-0010
(800)782-4264

If you are able to get to a university affiliated medical center, they ususally have financial assistance programs. Call and speak with social services at the hospital.

Best of luck.

Clinical trials for new meds can be a source of help free. I am very lucky to be involved in a trial all oral meds, few if any side affects. It is working!

Often patients without resources (ie ,income or insurance) will find assistance through the drug manufactures.  Obviously meeting certain criteria. Possibly satrt with calling these numbers.

Vertex: 1-855-546-2483 or 1-855-837-8394
Pegassist: 1-877-734-2797

Merck: 1-866-363-6379

Good luck and welcome to the group...
