chances of remaining UD after only 12 weeks

I am geno1a grade 1 stage 2....i was on tx for 12 weeks(triple therapy.peg copeg and incevik) i went in the hospital for transfusion due to anemia. My 12 week blood work said I was UD and last weeks did too, been off tx since june19, .my doc discontinued all meds. I was still detectable at 4 weeks but UD at 12 weeks. What does anyone think.???? Might I remain UD. Doc says wwe will wait 6 months and check my VL. He says I could be one of the few???  Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Has anyone known of this being true for some??

As of today I finished a 12 week trial treatment by Vertex. Today, since I was RVR at week 4, they pronounced me End Of Treatment. If the numbers on my PCRs had not added up Vertex would have kept me on another 12 weeks of SOC. So, they said there was no need for me to continue and now I play the waiting game for six months to see if I maintain and make SVR.

So, for me the jury is still out but I feel great.. and believe I have made it.

Hi there are two other people that I know of MsDragonSlayer and MsHepC who stopped at 12 weeks and 9 week and were SVR at 6 weeks.  I hope you are one of the lucky ones
Good luck

I am at week 7 and my viral load was undetected at week4. Dr. said I can come off Incivek at week 12 but continue peg and riba until week 28. My HMG is 9.3 and dr. had me stop taking 400 mg riba at night.

Workingdog only discontinued the Incivek (at 11 weeks, I think). He stayed on Interferon and Riba for several weeks after that.

I, too, wonder why the doctor discontinued your medication instead of giving you Procrit, transfusions, and a small Ribavirin reduction. There are many people on this forum who had very low hemoglobins but they had small Riba reductions, started Procrit, or had transfusions or had a combination of all three of those interventions and they are still on treatment.

I don't know what your chances of SVR are. Since you were still detectable at 4 weeks, the protocol for treatment would have been 48 weeks of total treatment. Stopping at 12 weeks is pretty early. However, some people do defy the odds and hopefully you will be one of them.

Best of luck.

How low your HMG was when doc discontinued all meds? Did he put you on Procrit? my HMG dropped to 8.5 on week 8, I am on procrit for past two weeks and my HMG is up to 9.3 now. I had to stop Riba for three days only and then back on reduced dose. Discontinuing is last resource. Ask for second opinion.

Hi snoopy, I have seen a couple member svr when pulled off early.  I did some research once to occupy my mind when feeling miserable and fantasizing about quitting.   I could not find published conclusions but inferred using my very unprofessional opinion based on early trials and some available info on trial drop outs, that 12 weeks of triple was about the equivalent of SOC for those that were und at 4 weeks. Odds seemed to go up for those folks about 10% a month.  You were not und at week 4 but you were at 4 weeks post.  That is a good sign.  You are still in the running.  So hoping you make it.
