Hepc C Treatment- Combo treatment

My husband went through treatment over a year ago for about 4 months...He was pretty much fine before treatment and during treatment.  Now he suffers HORRIBLY with vision problems and horrible pain that goes throughout his body.  It will move from his arm and then one day it will be in his foot or then one day in his elbow.  It just moves.  All the docs say it is not arthritis and they do not know what it is.  I AM CONVINCED it is from the treatment.  Sometimes he runs fever with it.  His body heat is so high it is scary.  I have had to run him to the ER a couple of times because the pain is so bad.  He is been to specialist but they say it is nothing they can find.  I think he should see a Neurologist maybe...Any help??????  Is there something they can prescribe for this pain????  He takes vicodin with Ibuprophen in it currently and that is all.  He is 48 years old and was NEVER SICK a day in his life.  He found out about the Hep c due to blood work for a screening.  HE IS HORRIBLE NOW.  HE WORKS BUT IS A REAL JERK AND I THINK IT IS ALL FROM THE TREATMENT.  Please anyone's input would be greatly appreciated.  I read some of the post and the FDA does put out drugs that are horrible and they do not tell you all the side effects.   I WAS ON EFEXXOR AND THE WITHDRAWLS WERE THE WORST EVER AND THEY DID NOT TELL ME THIS WOULD HAPPEN OR I WOULD HAVE NEVER TAKEN THE DRUG TO BEGIN WITH.  I was prescribed it for a little stress and the docs did not want to give me some Zanax because it is ADDICTING.  WELLLLL IT IS NOT PHYSICALLY ADDICTING LIKE EFEXXOR....CRAZYYYYY!

Sorry to hear of your hubby and your problems...

If he is still working it may get worse and he may want to start to the disability route.

It is a long process and a difficult one. I recommend going thru an attorney or specialist. I went thru the local welfare office as I was already getting medicaid... The specialist can only get a certain amount even if he works a thousand hours and five years for you. He cant get a penny over that amount and it is well worth that persons expertise.

Your husband should see as many specialist in the medical side as he thinks he needs. The one thing my guy told me was this: When the doc asks you how you are feeling tell him the truth! It isnt a social visit so dont say Fine thank you! Keep detailed notes and read off the notes. Tell the doc that on Friday nite I had a shooting pain running up... and then for three hours another pain... etc.

I think you get the idea.

best of luck with this terrible disease and "cure",
frank

First of all, your husband needs a definite diagnosis of his condition. Whether is associated with treatment or not, he needs to be diagnosed. If the doctors you go to tell you they don't have an answer, don't stop with this. Keep looking. Go for a second opinion. Go to a large academic medical center where they see a lot of patients with very rare disorders and have better abilities to determine what is wrong. You need to be an advocate for your husband. Very often doctors need some pushing and prodding. And don't stop until they find out exactly what is going on.

I hope that you find the answer and that he feels better soon.

Actually, if you read the package inserts that came with the meds they do warn of some pretty bad side effects. I'm taking Effexor too and I know I will have to taper it off when I quit. The stuff works on your brain chemistry and if you stop all at once that chemistry will get all out or whack.

Your husband only did the treatment for 4 months? Does he still have the virus? You say he was fine during the treatment so I wonder why he stopped so early... just curious.

I have read about these drugs causing autoimmune problems so you may want to find a doctor that specializes in that area.
