How Long

I have been pos for hep c for 6 years and been on treatment 3 times. Don't know when I caught it but that big question is always out there how long does this go ? What should I expect ? I know if I take care of myself it may take many years till my liver doesn't work any more. So is there a rule of thumb to go by or things I should be looking for.

What stage and grade are you. It can take 30-40 years to  progress to Cirrhosis for some people and then you could have cirrhosis for 20 years. Figure out how long you have it then see what gr and st you are.

How long? It takes many years for liver disease to advance to stage 4, cirrhosis for example.  Decades usually. Me, 38 years. Everyone is different. And there are many factors that can affect the progression of liver disease. Alcohol use. Coinfection with HBV or HIV for example.

What were the results of your last liver biopsy? Grade? Stage? This will tell you how advanced is your liver disease? Once you know this, you can answer the question. Is my liver disease so advanced I need to treat now? Or can you wait for newer, different treatments that I haven't tried before that might be more successful?

You say you were treated 3x before. What treatments did you have? Did you ever achieve EVR?

I hope this point you in the right direction.
