I am G1.I did the entir 48 weeks of treatment with peginterferon. I carried on a full time job exercised; all with minimal side effects through our entire treatment…I tolerated the drug fairly well but regretfully did not respond. I did have a liver biopsy less than 2 years ago and yes as soon as I get back in town I will ask for the documents and share the results.

Currently the soreness has dissipated and the only abnormal pain is early in the morning when I get up now. Once I begin to move around it goes away. I am still not taking any supplements besides milk thistle.

HI Gordo - left you a pm.

Can you post your biopsy results here?  If you weren't cirrhotic two years ago, I wonder if your pains are from your liver.  If you didn't get a copy of your biopsy results, why don't you request a hard copy and post it here.

I too failed treatment and am waiting for the PIs but my liver damage is minimal, so I don't take any supplements.  Did you make it through the whole 48 weeks?  Are you a G1?  Tell us about yourself.

Thanks

I don’t feel external swelling on right side just soreness, I have discontinued vigorous us of supplements for now excluding mild thistle. If aching continues without a doubt I will probably have to see my no good for nothing doctor. I just don’t like taking days off work to see doctors that only tell me to drink plenty of coffee and know very little about HVC.

Thank s for the info.

you might have irritated your stomach lining from all those supplements.
also if you have duodenal ulcer you get pain on the right side.
unless you have an enlarged liver or gallbladder problems it is highly
unlikely for the pain to come from your liver.

Standard procedure with abdominal pain:
- bloods (check metabolisim /absorption ect...)
- Ultrasound

See if antiacids have any impact or do  upper GI endoscopy if
symptoms don`t get better.

I' have no first hand experience of what pain in the liver region feels like, only what my husband describes and sourness doesn't fit his description.  Maybe someone else on here could describe the upper right quadrant pain that they have experience so you could compare.  I don't know what gall bladder pain feels like either but maybe it is something to do with that.  Just throwing out ideas.
I have never heard anyone else complain of quercetin causing liver pain but Joe's system didn't seem to take to it.  He has only had one other supplement cause it and to the best of my memory, I think it was pomegranate.  It has been a while back and I'm not completely sure that was it, but Joe is dealing with a very compromised liver so no doubt there are things that effect him that wouldn't bother a healthier person.
Bali would be a good one to discuss anything digestive/upper right quad pain because he has researched to the max to figure out his own symptoms in that region which don't appear to be related to liver damage.

Losing weight reduces the work on the liver and is recommended for most HCV and transplant patients who do not have an ideal BMI.

Doctors (Gastroenterologist) here in Odessa TX as well as midland TX are not very helpful or educated with HVC and all that applies …. So i seldom see them except when i need blood work done.I had my biopsy done July 2008 and did not show any signs of cirrhoses. Not sure where im at either…

Thanks evangelin

Sourness is now dissipating slightly. I have been drinking plenty of water and eating yogurt to minimize stress on liver… Im also not taking any of my supplements at this time. I didn’t realize quercetin could trigger pain in the liver region.I  usualy take it 1 hour before exercising. But lately because i work out of town i have been taken it with little or now exercise…I will diffidently take your advice into consideration.

Thank you

Try stopping the quercetin and see if it gets better.  My husband has cirrhosis and quercetin seemed to trigger pain in the liver region.  He seldom has it unless he takes a prescription drug like an antibiotic or something but it started up immediately when I gave him quercetin and stopped as soon as I took it away.  These things can be a coincidence but it might give you something to try.  At the time this happened, quercetin was the only thing I'd done differently.  There are also questions about the manufacturing of that supplements such as mixed in contaminants.  It may have just been the bottle of quercetin I had but I never tried it again.
Hope things improve,

Has the doctor told you the soreness is from liver inflamation? I also have had pain on my right side and told my doctor about it and asked him if it was liver issue and he said no it could be many different things causing pain but he said more then likely not caused by liver, he made me feel like it was in my head.

I am stage 2 level 2 since biopsy last year, not sure if getting worse

I haven’t thought of it that way but yes it makes sense. I will give it a try.

Just taking them on my own. My family doctor states there is nothing he do for me, all he says is to drink plenty of coffee.  Gastroenterologist tells me I have to wait for new drugs.

Have you tried stopping the supplements for a week or two to see how you feel. Perhaps some of the supps your are taking shouldn't be taken together. They may have made you feel better in the beginning but after building up in your body / liver over time they are having an adverse affect.

Good luck

are you seeing an integrative doctor or are you just taking these supplements on your own?

That's a great question HCVguy! I've had a lot of swelling in my stomach, and they can't find anything! Maybe this is my answer..

I don't think I could help you with this but I am curious what your symptoms are. In other words, how do you know that you are suffering from liver inflammation specifically? What does it feel like?
