I have suffered exploding head syndrome (also known as migraines) for many, many years. I found that Imitrex didn't work and when they were severe would have to go to the hospital and be shot full of demerol and vistaril (an antihistamine that made me sleep). It was not until I could sleep would they go away. That sometimes was several rounds from bounceback migraines and I'd be in the ER for days (happened about 4 - 6 months ago).
I think taking the Imitrex is probably much better than that. I would ask one of your many heptologists though - I am no expert on this subject and it's all a guess to me as where they would know.
Or google contraindications to Imitrex - it should have it listed for certain if it's a problem.
Call you hepatologist and ask about the imitrex. He will know.
Hope you feel better.
guess i am just very kranky today with a major headache looking for someone
telling me it is ok to take imitrex. i know that will work.
thanks
Honestly all I know is my friend takes frova, has hep C and says it works. She has landed up in bed incapacitated in the past. I'd look into it if I were you.
What have you got to lose other than your headaches?
thanks, i know all about the triggering but the migraines still happen
not that often like usually every 2 mo. now and when it does it is bad.
usually wake up with it in the am , so there is nothing i can do beforehand.
i have seen a dr. for it and imitrex did the trick but now with hep c
i am not sure if i can take it. it is only once in a while .
is frova safer than imitrex ?
i need something to aliviate the pain.
I have a friend who gets migraines. She takes frova and I know its expensive. She also has HCV but her liver is so healthy it's amazing.
She told me about a book titled, Heal Your Headache (the 1, 2 ,3 method).
I bet if you googled it you can find it. The theory is there are a number of triggers that set off your migraine. Sometimes by identifying your food triggers, you can get rid of them through diet. At least that's what she told me about the book.
Good luck
