You are a good Scout—Be Prepared!
thank you so much for the sun sleeves tip. just went to Sun Day Afternoons and bought a jacket, a shirt, a hat and sun sleeves. Hope this helps! Just what i needed.
Mine weren't very tight, they come in difference sizes. I think mine were B.M.C.? Here is a link: http://www.amazon.com/Bundle-Monster-Stretch-Protection-Sleeve/dp/B0090UGFIW/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1406234886&sr=8-8&keywords=sun+sleeves+cycling
They were pretty true to sizing. I wore them walking to and from car, and driving, and shopping. I didn't go out if I didn't need to.
I work inside office and plan not to go outside in the sun. Where you out lots or just walking from your car to work etc. I will look into the Sun Sleeves on line. Where they loose or tight?
I bought Sun Sleeves like bicycle riders use, they protect your arms and actually cool your skin. I wore them any time I went outside or drove. Saved me! They were very in expensive, I bought them on Amazon, like 4 pairs for $20, different colors, they even protect the tops of your hands. Also always wore a broad rimmed hat and dark glasses. I ended up getting prescription steroid cream after treatment, as the rash really worsened for me after the Tx. I found my skin actually hurt when the sun was on it, did not feel good at all.
Hello Hector, nice to see you are doing well. I also saw irritability, how common is it?
Nope - no Ribaviran. On the O/S trial - Optimist II trial.
No shingles.
Rash is mentioned as one of the side effects of treatment in the COSMOS

Let your provider know that you have developed a rash from treatment.
Good luck with your treatment.
Hector
This has been discussed in several other posts this month. It is the riba causing the rash.
Check with doctor re script or cream for rash. Be sure to continually drink a lot of water. Hydrate skin by drinking water.
When I was on riba and interfon a few years back I had rash and was photosensitive to light. And yes, long sleeve shirts and big floppy hats became my way of life for along time.
Still sensitive to the sun which is a killer for the sun bunny I have been for most of my life. Lifeguarded in school. Lived in Florida Keys for 10 years. Have always been on the water.
Now depending on your age you also could have shingles. Please check with your doctor...they can do a blood test for the shingles.
Everyone should wear sunscreen. The sun is so different now then it was
years ago. Even when you are in the car you can get reflective SPF's. Your hair today in the sun for 5 minutes is like having your hair in bleach for an hour.
Eventually it will pass....maybe not in your time frame...but it will pass.
I just started week 7 - 1/2 way thru treatment on the Optimist trial.
Oh, yes. Rash on face and neck. I have it. I went for a hike last Saturday and got just a tiny bite of sun and have been getting sun in my car - don't usu wear sunscreen. And I developed a blotchy, weird reddish rash. My skin is really rough on my face and my neck. It seems to be clearing up - down to about 50% of what it was. But I can't put creams on cuz it holds in the heat and can inflame it more.
Anyone else have this rash??
I have a vaca planned to Belize 2 days after my last pill - at 12 weeks. And I am a little nervous.
I finished 12 weeks Sovaldi olysio,back in May 8th
but it was winter, so no sun
Your rash is probably from the sun
But if I were you I would take a photo and email to your Hepatoligist and also make an appt to go in ASAP,
rashes and side effects should not be ignored
They may want you to treat it with something
And please be careful to stay out of the sun
