I did 72 weeks and will be going for another biopsy the first of December. I ended treatment August of 09. Despite relapse ALT and AST have remained normal since completion of treatment. I'll let you know.

I'm on shot 46, have cirrhosis, if the liver isn't recouping some function I can't explain why I'm feeling better now than in the two years prior to tx. Not to minimize stage 2 grade 5, but improvement or not, when you go SVR you will still have a very functional liver that will carry you through a long life. Just keep doing all the liver friendly things you do now. We'll all be doing the happy dance with you!
Many do experience some degree of liver regeneration. There are many reports of that. I went from Stage 1 to undetectable liver damage with ALT and AST back to normal levels again. Treatment was successful for me in spite of an abnormal course of treatment.
Some people do experience ringing in their ears while on treatment - anemia can contribute to this. I don't know what your hgb levels have been however you've been on an extended course of treatment. For a very, very small number, it becomes permanent however that is one of the more rare after-effects of treatment.
Wow that you are almost done your 72 weeks!!! Here's hoping for both liver regeneration and SVR for you.
Trish
how much time from SVR till undetectable liver damage??
did you have another liver biopsy to make sure of it ?
Thanks Trish
I am having some anemia 9.1 last time went to my nurse, hope the ringing will stop after treatment. And if it does not will learn to live with it. thanks again for your encouragement.

Hi Trinity,
Please keep me posted on your results and hope your news is good. We are all in this together.
Here in Quebec we are starting to hear more about Hep c on the radio and the news maybe it is because a lot of people are becoming sick with this and there will be better medication to come.
Hang in there we will get rid of this!!!
