I believe I was infected with hepC in 1978, then had a child in 1984. I didn't know I was infected until recently. Meanwhile, my child grew up and now donates blood regularly. She has never tested positive for hepC. From what I've read, the risk of passing the virus to your unborn child is extremely low.
Wishing you the best,
Sue
Thank you So much for your sharing your experience and life with me. You give me great hope.. I pray for you and your family, and new baby, that he or she may be well and virus free..

I have had hep c for 27 years and have 2 children. The possibility is there but is about a 5% chance. My oldest daughter was tested at 18 months because according to my doctor the child born will have antibodies and then be gone by then or show that they do indeed have the virus so test then to see if the antibodies are present. She doesn't have the virus thankfully. She is a fully actuve 4 year old and My youngest is only 7 months so we are still waiting to see. I would say of your health otherwise and liver is fine no dammage then go for it. I diddnt find out until I was pregnant with my second that I had the virus. Hope that helped btw I have had this my entire life and I had a great childhood barely sick except for the regular common cold so even if the baby got it with new treatments out so soon I feel u wont have to worry so much. Still a hard decision I know
